A decision to start creating a tech hub at the Belleville Public Library is paying off in a different way.
The library has been expanding its technology over the past couple of years and invested in a 3D printer, which is now being used by CEO Trevor Pross to make parts for face shields, for frontline workers.
Library Chair Paul Carr says those parts are being sent to Chris Finkle, who has been making shields as well and he finishes the assembly, then drops them off to healthcare workers in the area.
Carr says, while the library continues to support residents during the ongoing pandemic, by offering digital services, it’s also helping out frontline workers in a physical way.
He added that as long as the call and need for equipment is there, the library will continue to help out.
