Director of Community Services, Programs and Initiatives Todd Davis says by passing the bylaw it will allow some of the other work that is required with the implementation of the MAT which is necessary.
He says the approval of the by-law will allow the finance department the necessary time required to put appropriate resources into place to administer the taxation process.
The additional time will also allow staff to consult with accommodations industry for direct industry input regarding an appropriate and opportune time to enact the tax.
