Like just about everything else these days, the coronavirus pandemic is affecting one of the springtime’s greatest pleasures.
That being wandering around garden centres picking and choosing flowers, plants, shrubs and trees.
Nurseries and garden centres are not considered essential businesses and like all the rest in that category will be closed to shoppers for the duration of
the outbreak.
the outbreak.
However, Rhonda Boers of Hollandale Landscaping and Garden Centre, in business for almost 70 years west of Trenton, says people shouldn’t be thinking spring is cancelled.
“Yes, garden centre gates will be locked and the stores will be closed but we’ll still be in business through the internet. Check out websites, or make a phone call. There will be touchless curbside pickup and delivery of whatever people need. We’ll be happy to answer questions and offer advice either through the website or email or by phone. Garden Centres will have flowers and plants and they’ll be getting them to customers. It’s just a lot different. We’ll miss the personal contact, the relationships we all develop with people as they come and browze. But, we’ll get through this, just like everyone else will.”
