A commercial building in the village of Stirling-Rawdon has been completely destroyed in a fire early Saturday morning.
The fire department was called into action just before 1 o’clock at 2472 Stirling Marmora Road.
Among the businesses located in the steel clad building are Farrell Designs and Excess Climate Controlled Storage Units.
The structure is located almost directly across from the Stirling Rawdon municipal offices and fire hall.
As of 2 a.m., the fire had spread to 50% of the building with flames being pushed from north to south by the wind.
There were no reports of injury.
As the fire progressed, Marmora and Lake and Centre Hastings fire departments were called in for support.
At 3:30 a.m. Belleville Station four’s air unit was also called in.
At 4:30 a.m. an excavator was moved in to begin tearing parts of building down to allow for more thorough extinguishment.
The fire was declared under control at around 5 a.m. but hot spots are still being doused.
Firefighters remain on the scene dousing the fire and cleaning up the scene.
