Not surprisingly, the unemployment rate in this part of Ontario is following both the provincial and national trends and heading higher.
According to Statistics Canada, the unemployment rate in the Kingston/Pembroke economic region, which the the Quinte area is a part of, was 7.1% last month.
In February the local rate was just 6.2%.
The unemployment rate for Ontario was 6.2% in March while the national rate increased to 7.8%.
