Quinte Economic Development Commission is helping local companies get through the many difficulties they face with the COVID-19 pandemic .
QEDC represents manufacturing and industrial and technology companies in Belleville, Quinte West and Brighton.
CEO Chris King tells Quinte News many companies are stepping up to help hospitals during Covid-19.
“They’ve always been great at what they do with their products and capabilities but they’re now saying, hey with the pandemic we can potentially support that.”
King adds, “Some are saying we’ve got products in our inventory, some personal protective equipment, N95 masks, we don’t really need right now. Can we get those to the hospitals? Some have revamped their production program.”
Also, some food processing companies have added employees during this time.
The Commission is also guiding many companies through the application process for government wage subsidies during the pandemic.
King says he also expects the training program Elevate Plus to be resumed for the 2020 – 2021 year.
