On April 6, 2020 in the early afternoon, police responded with paramedics and fire personnel to a report of a male in medical distress.
Police attended a Cannifton Road North address and were directed to an adult male who was absent any vital signs.
The victim unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The deceased is an 18-year-old male resident of Belleville.
Within minutes of the call, police arrested three individuals in connection with this case.
The investigation has been taken over by detectives with the Criminal Investigations Branch with the assistance of the Belleville Police Forensic Identification Services.
At this time police have no reason to believe there is any further threat to community safety.
Three accused are charged with the following;
A 20-year-old male resident of Belleville has been charged with
– 2nd Degree Murder
– Fail to comply with terms of a probation order
A 49-year-old female resident of Belleville has been charged with;
– Causing Death by Criminal Negligence
A 16-year-old female Young Offender and resident of Belleville has been charged with;
– Causing Death by Criminal Negligence
All three accused appeared for a bail hearing on April 7, 2020 at the Quinte Consolidated Court House. A publication ban was put in place at that time and no further information can be released at this time.
