The Belleville General Hospital Foundation is shining the spotlight on a local couple, trying to do their part to help address a shortage of personal protective equipment, at local hospitals.
Chris and Susan Finkle heard about the need for protective gear, so they looked up plans to make face shields online and have been using their 3D printer to make them, one by one.
The Finkles, who have been getting up at 3:00 a.m. to make sure the printer is still running, say they won’t be selling the shields but will be giving them to pharmacies and other small groups that need them.
They say requests have been coming in from nursing homes and other medical organizations, who are looking for supplies.
After funding most of the project themselves, with their supply of plastic running low, Chris reached out to the Belleville Rotary Club, which has decided to pitch in and help with their initiative.
