At approximately 7:20 p.m., members of the Central Hastings OPP investigated a traffic complaint on Highway 62 in the Township of Tudor-Cashel resulting in the arrest of a male and recovery of a stolen vehicle.
As a result of the investigation, Richard Michael HAIG, 32-years-old from Marmora & Lake, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired – Criminal Code (CC) 320.14(1)(a)
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) Criminal Code (CC) 320.14(1)(b)
- Theft Over $5000 (CC) 334(a)
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle (CC) 320.13(1)
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Prohibited (CC) 320.18(a)
- Failure to Comply with Release Order (CC) 145(5)(a)
- Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence (HTA) 32(1)
- Driving while under Suspension (HTA) 53(1)
- Fail to Remain (HTA) 200(1)(a)
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on May, 28, 2020.
