Quinte News spoke with the CEO of Quinte Health Care on Monday morning to get an update on how things went over the last week, and plans moving forward to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
She first wanted to thank the public and local businesses for their support with medical supplies.
Mary Clare Egberts says they put out a call to action last week, asking for help with gowns, gloves, masks and ventilators.
Egberts says they are overwhelmed at the amount of donations they have received.
She says so far things like social distancing are having an impact, especially in our area.
We asked the CEO what the numbers have been like in emergency rooms at the four hospitals.
She says people are thinking twice.
Egberts added that they are making sure plans are in place for a large jump in cases.
She says having equipment and beds available is critical, as is making sure the staff stay safe.
We asked about how the numbers are for COVID-19 test kits.
The CEO finished by thanking the community for understanding change in the visitor policy during the pandemic.
