Above seasonal temperatures and a predicted rain storm over the weekend have prompted Quinte Conservation to issue a flood outlook statement.
Staff at the conservation authority predict the area around the Moira River at Actinolite may possibly be at risk for minor flooding mid-next week and those residents and property owners that annually experience localized flooding should prepare now.
Quinte Conservation says the northern regions of the Moira watershed, north of Hwy. 7, still contain significant snow pack and along with the 25-35 mm of rain expected to fall beginning on Saturday through until Monday will contribute to the rapid rise of the Black, Skootamatta and Moira rivers upstream of Stoco Lake.
The flood risk is low for the Moira River at Foxboro and there is no overland flood concern in Prince Edward County at this time.
