Ensuring the well-being of all residents of Hastings and Prince Edward counties is integral during the COVID-19 crisis and Addictions and Mental Health Services – HPE is expanding what they can do to help.
CEO Garry Law says they are casting their net further to make sure all residents in the Hastings Prince Edward catchment area are supported.
President and Chair of the Board Joan Greenwood says during this time addictions and mental health services and supports are essential.
The helpline will open tomorrow (Thursday) at 9 a.m. to help those who are experiencing difficulties coping with their mental health or substance use issues as a result of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The helpline will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday at 613-967-4737.
The caller will be connected to a receptionist who will connect them to an Addictions Counsellor or Mental Health Worker with the objective of having the individual connected with a worker from the agency within the same day.
Associate Director of Business Solutions and Communications Barinder Gill says sometimes people just need a listening ear.
This helpline is a one-time measure being implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic and does not replace the Crisis Intervention Centre Line operated by Quinte Health Care. Those in crisis are still encouraged to call 613-969-7400 ext. 2753.
