Impaired
Belleville, Ontario – On the 23rd of March 2020, at approximately 8:32 p.m., police responded to South George Street area for a report of an impaired driver. Upon arrival, police officers spoke to a female who had a very strong odour of an alcoholic beverage on her breath. The female was arrested for impaired driving and taken back to the Belleville Police Service where she provided two samples of breath that were over 2.5 times the legal limit. As a result, 54-year-old Jody Clark was charged for impaired driving, drive while over 80mgs and given first court date for the 28th of May 2020.
Warrants
Belleville, Ontario – On the 24th of March 2020, at approximately 6:30 p.m., police observed a female known to them in the area of North Park Street and College Street East. Officers were aware that she had outstanding warrants for her arrest before the courts. The female was arrested under the power of those warrants. Jennifer Murphy, a 33-year-old Brighton, Ontario woman was released on a Form 10 charged with breach of probation x2, theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by crime, fail to attend court x2 and fail to attend for prints x2. She was given a first appearance date of the 11th of June 2020.
Mischief
Belleville, Ontario – On the 24th of March 2020, at approximately 10:17 p.m., police were called to a west end residence for a report of a domestic dispute. When officers arrived on scene, they located the male party outside of the residence and he had smashed out the windows of his girlfriend’s vehicle. A 37-year-old Belleville man was charged with mischief under $5000 in relation to the domestic incident. He was later released on a Form 10 with a first court appearance on the 8th of June 2020.
Fraud
Belleville, Ontario – On the 24th of March 2020, at approximately 1:53 p.m., police were called to an east end residence regarding a fraud. The complainant explained that she was contacted over Instagram by an anonymous account stating that she had won a $50,000 prize. In order to claim that money, she had to send $1300 to this unknown account. Police want to remind the residents of Belleville to ignore those types of social media messages, phone calls and text messages. They are fraudulent in nature and often times the money is never recovered.
