In response to the Ontario government’s announcement yesterday ordering further closures across the province, the municipality will restrict public access to Shire Hall (332 Picton Main Street) and the Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue Administrative Office (8 McDonald Drive, Picton).
The municipal offices at these locations will close at 3 pm on Tuesday, March 24. All other municipal offices, recreation facilities, arenas, museums, town halls, and library branches will remain closed.
The municipality encourages residents to go online to pay bills and complete other municipally related activities. Services previously offered at municipal offices are also available through the phone, email, postal mail, or where necessary, by appointment. Deliveries and mail will continue to be accepted at Shire Hall.
Landfills and transfer sites will remain open. To limit traffic at the sites and ensure social distancing, the municipality recommends holding onto your waste until you have a full load.
There are no changes to garbage and recycling collection at this time. The municipality continues to monitor garbage collection and the best way to address resident and business needs. If you are self-isolating for 14 days due to recent travel or potential exposure to COVID-19, the municipality asks that you store your garbage and recycling during that time. This measure is intended to protect the health and safety of garbage and recycling collectors and recycling sorting staff.
