A popular summer hot spot at Meyers Pier in Belleville will continue to operate for another five years at least.
City Council approved a new agreement with Greg Annesley on Friday morning, to continue to operate The Pier Patio Bar & Grill for another five year term, at a rent cost of a little more than $9,000 for the season.
Councillor Chris Malette credited Annesley, who has owned The Boathouse Seafood Restaurant for 20 years, with continuing his investment into the summertime initiative.
Annesley has run The Pier for the past seven years and has put $80,000 worth of work into the property and plans to invest another $40,000 this year, to change the layout and expand the capacity from 90 to 120 people.
The venue is expected to continue to run weekly entertainment as well, between 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. and Annesley will likely apply for a noise exemption.
