The County of Prince Edward has instituted additional safety procedures at landfill and transfer sites to protect staff and the public during the COVID-19 outbreak.
At landfills/transfer sites:
- All visitors must speak to an attendant when they arrive at a landfill or transfer site.
- Visitors must remain in their vehicle unless otherwise directed by the landfill attendant.
- Visitors are asked to bring small bills in order to facilitate exact change and limit the cash handling by the attendants.
- The public is reminded to refrain from visiting a landfill site for 14 days if you have recently travelled internationally or if you are experiencing symptoms or are unwell. Please practice social distancing (keep a distance of 2m/6.5’ from others), wash your hands thoroughly and frequently, and use hand sanitizer.
Curbside pick up:
- Curbside garbage, green bin, and recycling collection is continuing on the normal schedule at this time.
- Garbage bag tags are available at a variety of locations.
- If you wish to have your garbage bag tags mailed to you, please mail a cheque to the County of Prince Edward (attention Lindsay Cutler), Shire Hall, 332 Picton Main Street, Picton, ON, K0K 2T0. They can also be purchased at Shire Hall (Monday–Friday, 9 am-3 pm) and the Picton fire station (8 McDonald Drive)
