The MP for Hastings-Lennox and Addington has been officially approved to be on the ballot for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada.
Rookie member Derek Sloan has been named by the party as an Official Candidate.
In October, he defeated Liberal Mike Bossio, and early in the new year, he surprised many when he announced his intention to seek the leadership.
He joins lawyer Dr. Leslyn Lewis, former Defense Minister Peter MacKay, and MP Erin O’Toole, who is running for the second time.
In order to get your name on the ballot, you must raise $300,000 and get 3,000 signatures from across the country.
A new leader will be chosen to replace Andrew Scheer on June 27.
