Under normal circumstances, the Quinte Foley Bus Lines Red Devils would be in Toronto right now competing in the prestigious “OHL Cup Showcase” tournament. But circumstances are anything but normal. Like most other events the OHL Cup has been cancelled.
The OHL Cup includes most of the top “AAA” Minor Midget hockey teams (15 year olds) not only in Ontario but the U.S. as well.
After winning the O.M.H.A. championship tournament in Belleville ten days ago, Quinte was the top ranked minor midget team in Ontario.
Red Devils coach Chris Hunt says playing in the OHL Cup had been their goal all season.
Hunt says the cancellation of the OHL Cup doesn’t detract from the Red Devils outstanding season.

The Minor Midget Red Devils dominated the Eastern “AAA” loup with a 28-5-3 record. They outscored their opponents 195-63. Goaltenders Corbin Votary and Andrew Munro combined for 12 shutouts.

The core of this Red Devils team has been together for seven years. They’ve won 3 OMHA titles and were runners-up twice. This is their final year together. Many will move on to junior hockey next season.
Many local players are ranked for the OHL Draft which will go ahead as scheduled online on April 4th.
Meanwhile 3 other Quinte Regional Minor Hockey teams were also in the playoffs when their seasons were cancelled.
The Major Atom Red Devils had already qualified for the OMHA championship tournament while the Major Bantams and Minor Atoms were one win away in their respective series of advancing as well.
A local referee was also slated to be an official at the OHL Cup.
Dan Emerson is a familiar “zebra” at games involving the Trenton Golden Hawks, Wellington Dukes, Picton Pirates, Napanee Raiders and local minor hockey.
