A Prince Edward County distillery is chipping in to help front line workers stay healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kinsip House of Fine Sprits, which usually makes spirits like gin, vodka, whiskey and others, has started to make small batches of hand sanitizer, to combat the shortage of the product across the Quinte Region and beyond.
Kinsip Co-owner Maria Hristova tells Quinte News distilleries are usually called upon for celebrations and not so much during times of emergency, but after seeing some other distilleries doing similar things, they saw an opportunity to be able to help.
She adds that one test batch is done and they’ve ordered a larger amount of ingredients to make more, with a plan of distributing the hand sanitizer to front line workers in the community.
Hristova says it isn’t difficult to flip their production line to make the much-needed product.
She says that they’ll start making more batches as soon as those ingredients come in.
