Quinte News has learned that one person was struck by a train in Tyendinaga Township on Tuesday afternoon.
At 3:30 p.m., Tyendinaga Township Fire, the OPP, and EMS were called to the CN tracks near Wyman Road, between Old Highway 2 and York Road.
OPP Spokesperson Bill Dickson tells Quinte News they are investigating a collision between a pedestrian and a freight train, just east of Wyman Road, in Tyendinaga Township.
Wyman Road at the CN tracks was the site of a demonstration location, over the LNG pipeline being constructed in British Columbia.
Dickson tells Quinte News there is no known connection between the demonstrations and this incident.
No foul play is suspected.
In a brief statement to Quinte News, CN Rail says there was “an incident involving a pedestrian” on its tracks and no further comment would be made as the incident is under investigation.
