Canada’s largest cinema chain is announcing it is closing all of its 165 theatres nationwide, including the Galaxy Cinemas in Belleville.
Cineplex says the closure, until at least April 2, is in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Chief executive officer Ellis Jacob says although the company took steps to mitigate the spread of the virus — including cleaning surfaces more frequently and selling fewer tickets at each screening — they are now shuttering their entertainment complexes.
