The Belleville Police Service responded to 62 calls from March 15, 2020 at 5 a.m. to March 16, 2020 at 5 a.m.
City man arrested on warrants
On March 15, 2020 at 12:36 p.m., city police arrested a man on outstanding arrest warrants in the east end of the city. The warrants contain charges of uttering threats, theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failing to attend for fingerprints under the Identification of Criminals Act. Police are not releasing the identity of the man as there are more charges pending. He has been secured into custody to await a bail hearing on March 16, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice.
RV Trailer recovered – man arrested
On March 15, 2020 at 1:23 p.m., city police stopped a motor vehicle towing a trailer on Old Highway 2 in the east end of the city. This investigation revealed the towed trailer to have been stolen earlier from a business on Dundas Street East. Further investigation also revealed the man to be in possession of an illegal substance. Police arrested and charged 56-year-old Kevin Heymans of Kingston. He was taken into custody and later released on an Undertaking on charges of Theft over $5,000, and possession of crystal methamphetamine. Heymans was also charged with a variety of Ontario Highway Traffic Act offences including: speeding, driving while suspended, making an unsafe turn, and using an unsafe means of attachment. Heymans is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on all charges on April 6, 2020.
