VP Carswell school in Trenton is the highest ranked Quinte region school in the Fraser Institute’s annual rankings of over 3,000 publicly funded elementary schools in the province.
VP Carswell scored 8.1 out of a possible 10. The rankings are based on standard tests administered by the Education Quality and Accountability Office in reading, writing, and math for grades 3 and 6.
Coming second among local schools was St. Joseph Catholic of Belleville with a 7.7 score.
Percy Centennial school in Warkworth scored a 7 and Trenton-based schools L’Envol and Cite Jeunesse were given a 6.9 out of 10.
The lowest ranked elementary schools in the region were Prince Charles of Belleville with a 0.9 rank and Deseronto Public scoring 1.0.
The top three ranked schools in the province were Islamic schools in Ottawa and the Greater Toronto Area.
