U As the impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) continues to evolve, Northumberland County is regularly assessing operations and implementing additional measures, where required, to protect the health and well-being of the community.
In addition to measures previously announced, the County is updating residents on the following precautions now in place:
Golden Plough Lodge
At the direction of Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, the Golden Plough Lodge has now restricted visitation to essential visitors only in order to protect the health and safety of residents. Essential visitors are defined as having very ill or end-of-life family members. Visitor access to the GPL is available through the Courthouse Road entrance only. Active screening for COVID-19 is in place for all staff and visitors entering the facility.
Licensed Child Care Centres
The following licensed child care centres have announced closures:
- All YMCA Child Care Programs and Camps
- Brighton Children’s Centre
- Ganaraska Child Care Centre
- Compass Early Learning
- Cobourg Day Care
Licensed child care centres that remain open are following the direction of Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health and the HKPR District Health Unit to implement active screening: checking children, parents, staff and visitors for any symptoms of COVID-19, and asking about recent travel history.
Public health officials continue to advise that risk in Northumberland remains relatively low. The County is regularly assessing operations and implementing measures, where required, to protect the health and well-being of the community. We will continue to update residents about these measures.
