After a meeting today Maple in the County organizers have unanimously decided to cancel the event this year.
Scheduled for the weekend of March 28-29 in Prince Edward County, organizers say they felt it was too unsafe to run Maple in the County which attracts between 12,000 – 15,000 people due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Maple in the County chair Ron Hubbs says that cancelling the event was something they needed to do.
Hubbs adds that the event was a huge kickoff for tourism season in the County.
This would have been the 19th annual Maple in the County.
However, while the festival will not take place this year, maple conditions in the area are ideal and Prince Edward County’s maple syrup producers are hard at work and continuing to produce maple syrup, maple butter and other maple products which are available locally. Customers should contact individual sugar shacks and businesses for products.
