The Director of Education has cancelled international school trips for students and staff amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sean Monteith says the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board is cancelling all international school trips effective immediately.
He says this is for the safety of students, staff and travelling chaperones as countries try to contain any further spread of the virus.
Monteith says they are not prepared to risk illness for unnecessary travel and are equally unprepared to compromise safety in any way.
Schools are working with the respective travel companies to investigate options for accessing refunds.
