Belleville Police Service responded to 81 calls for service from March 9, 2020 at 5 a.m. to March 10, 2020 at 5 a.m.
Impaired Driving by Drugs
On March 9, 2020, at 8:48 a.m., the Belleville Police Service paddy wagon reported an impaired driver on Old Hwy 2 as they were westbound from Shannonville. The car was observed swerving within its own lane. The car was stopped by responding units on Dundas Street East. The driver was arrested for impaired driving by drugs. Drugs were also located within the vehicle. Charged is 34-year-old Paul Catena of Napanee. He will appear in court on March 26, 2020 on charges of impaired driving by drugs, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of fentanyl.
Traffic Enforcement
On March 10, 2020 at 1:30 a.m., an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on North Front Street. The driver, a 43-year-old Belleville man, was a suspended driver. He was charged with driving while under suspension and driving with an expired valtag sticker. He will appear in Traffic Court on March 30, 2020. His vehicle was eligible for the 45-day impoundment program.
