A highly anticipated Wellington – Trenton OJHL playoff series is now a Golden Hawks win away.
Dawson Ellis scored at 1:13 of the third period to break a 1 all tie and send the Dukes to a 5-1 victory and a four game sweep in Cobourg to advance to round two of the OJHL playoffs.
The Dukes scored four times in the third period.
Frank Vitucci, Ben Addison, Daniel Panetta and Barret Joynt also scored and Matthew Dunsmoor stoped 24 shots.
The Dukes wait for the winner of the Trenton-Whitby series and they might not have to wait long.
The Golden Hawks are up 3 games to none with Game 4 tonight in Whitby.
Junior “C” final opens in Napanee
It’s one versus two as the best of 7 Provincial Junior “C” East Division final begins tonight in Napanee.
The Raiders host the Picton Pirates at 7:30 at the Strathcona Paper Centre. Napanee took the season series 4 games to 2 however the Pirates won the last two games. Game two is next Thursday in Picton.
