A train derailment in Kingston prompted an evacuation in the area of Bath Rd, with Bath Road being closed between Queen Mary and Armstrong roads.
The derailment took place around 11a.m.
A spokesperson for CN Rail says eight cars derailed and one car containing Adipic Acid, a solid industrial product commonly used in food and to make everyday household items such as nylon was spilled.
The acid was contained to CN’s property and did not contaminate any water source.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
Clean up and track repairs are expected to close Bath Road for hours.
