Quick work and quick thinking by staff at the Madoc Tim Hortons kept a small fire from becoming a big one early last night (Sunday).
Centre Hastings firefighters were called to Tim Hortons just north of Highway 7 shortly before 7 o’clock after fire broke out in the kitchen area of the restaurant.
However, staff put the flames out using a fire extinguisher on the scene before firefighters arrived.
People were evacuated from the building and one staff member was taken to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
Firefighters ventilated the building and left after about an hour on scene. The cause is under investigation.
