World Elite Training- Major Atom (U11)
The World Elite Training Atoms continued their series with Whitby. The Devils hit the road for game two in Whitby on Saturday. It was a back and forth game after the first 16 minutes, but then the Wildcats took off.
The Devils took a 7-2 loss against Whitby. Goals were scored by Maclean Chisholm (assisted by Ryan Foley) and Chase Cybulskie.
Game three saw the Devils come from behind. Gabriel Davis to Nate Rashotte for a top corner goal to start things off. Jake Gawley poked in the rebound from Blake Munnings and Keegan Goulah to Wyatt Whalen for another goal. Quinte was down by one goal with 5 minutes left in the third period. Cybulskie wins the faceoff with a pass to Rashotte and in the net. At the end of 40 minutes the game is tied. After a great comeback, Whitby was first to score in overtime and Quinte take the 5-4 overtime loss.
The series continues next weekend, Quinte plans to come out on top and wrap this series up by Sunday! Go Devils Go!!
Free Flow Petroleum- Minor Peewee (U12)
Playing three games in total, two of which were on the road, it was a busy week for the Free Flow Petroleum Minor Peewees as they continued round two of playoff action, versus the York Simcoe Express.
Thursday night, found the team travelling the distance for a late start in Aurora. Opening up the scoring first was Quinte’s Matthew Airhart, assisted by Ryland Cunningham. Proving to be a strong match-up, the teams offered their fans commendable goal-tending and action-packed play. Battling strong, the middle frame showed no change in the score, causing for an intense third. It was YSE to hit the twine first, however only minutes later the Devils responded, as Cunningham was set up by Jack Foley, to tie things up. Into overtime they went, but the gridlock did not let up. Final score remained, a 2-2 draw.
Two days later, the Express joined us in Napanee. With a solid drive to the net Jacob Moore (unassisted) earned Quinte lone goal of the 2-1 game.
In the first-to-six-points-series now standing at: 3 points for Quinte and YSE with 5, the Minor Peewees returned to Aurora on Sunday. The Devils took to the ice with intentions of returning home with a win and having forced a sixth game. Unfortunately, the outcome did not allow, as the home team kept control of the goals.
Despite the road to the OMHA’s having come to an unsettling end, the Minor Peewees have plenty to be proud of and will continue their play, with new sights set on the ETA finals. Games to be announced.
Novice (U9)
The Quinte Red Devils Novice team put up another 6 points this weekend, to complete their regular season with a record of 8-0.
On Friday, the Devils travelled to Whitby to take on the Wildcats for the third time this season. The two teams battled hard throughout the game, but the Devils would skate away with a 6-2 win. Grady Riley had a pair of goals in the game, while Noah Hughes, Mason Whalen, James Gullage and Edmund Dowling all added singles. Assisting on the goals was Whalen (2), Everett Brown, Rowyn Haley, Emerson Hailstone, Hughes, Riley and Dowling. Dax Sage was solid between the pipes for the win.
On Saturday the Devils were at home, where they would host Clarington in their second match up of the season. Although the Devils got off to a bit of a slow start, they finished strong scoring 5 unanswered goals to win the game 5-0. Lighting the lamp for the Devils was Rowyn Haley (2), Noah Hughes, Grady Riley, and Thomas Marsden. Holden Goulah, Edmund Dowling, Hughes and Haley all picked up assists in the game. Matt Travers picked up the shutout win between the pipes.
On Sunday, The Novice Red Devils travelled to Oshawa to play their last regular season game against the hardworking minor Generals. The two teams traded chances in the first part of the game, before the Devils pulled away, on their way to a 6-2 win. Noah Hughes and Emerson Hailstone each had a pair of goals in the game. James Gullage and Holden Goulah both added single goals in the game. Assisting on the goals was Jaxson Plummer, Goulah, Hughes, Gullage, Grady Riley (2), Rowyn Haley and Edmund Dowling. Matt Travers picked up his second win of the weekend between the pipes.
The Novice Red Devils have a very busy month ahead of them, starting with a tournament at Southern Tier next weekend. Keep up the great work!
Bonn Law- Major Bantam (U15)
The Bonn Law Major Bantams continued their winning streak into the second round of playoffs, completing their series against The Oshawa Generals in three games for their 20th straight win.
The team recorded 5-3, 6-4 and 5-3 wins against the highly physical Oshawa Generals to secure their spot in the OMHA semi final round. Oshawa pushed the team to their limits in their relentless pursuit to upset the series, but the boys battled back in response. They continue to work hard and prepare mentally and physically for their next opponent, which was decided last evening.
The Bonn Law Major Bantams will start their final series against the Ajax Pickering Raiders on Wednesday, March 4 on home ice. Catch the action at 7:45 at the Family Dental Centre.
