Thursday was the official launch for the 16th annual Trenton Military Family Resource Centre’s Invisible Ribbon Gala. It will be held Saturday May 9 at the National Air Force Museum of Canada, with the theme Canada, the True North Strong & Free – and military families.
MFRC communications spokeswoman Devon Taylor welcomed dignitaries, sponsors, media, and military members Thursday, stating military members can often be moved all over Canada. Taylor says members and their families can often begin their career at one end of the country, and before they are done, they may have visited several other provinces or territories on the journey. She says the gala is about celebrating everything Canadiana.
The National Air Force Museum of Canada is going to look like iconic landscapes. It will include the shores of the east coast, the glaciers of the north, the Rockies in the west, the golden prairies, and serene marshlands.

This year’s title sponsor is Dibbits Excavating and Landscape Supply. Joe Dibbits spoke at the gala launch and said this was a really special year for the family. He says the freedoms they enjoy are because of the military.
MFRC Executive Director Tamara Kleinschmidt says funds raised will go to support military families getting access to primary health care.
17% of children in military families do not have access to a primary care physician. Kleinschmidt says those who live in the Quinte region use health care and social programs more than the provincial average. She says by assisting military families, it will ease the burden on the system for everyone else. She says another way the funds will be used is to support members and their families in getting access to digital health care.
