The day after Via Rail announced they would resume service between Quebec City and Ottawa and in Southwestern Ontario, some bad news came down.
Via announced they would be temporarily suspending close to 1,000 employees.
Cynthia Garneau, President and Chief Executive Officer says in 42 years of existence, a public intercity passenger rail service, has to interrupt most of its services across the country and they have done everything to mitigate the impact on their employees and passengers.
At this point, she says they believe they have made the fairest and most reasonable decision with the proposed temporary suspension plan.
Garneau also stated she hopes services will resume quickly and they can welcome back employees and passengers.
