Quinte West Council has given the go ahead for its new strategic plan, which will replace one that was done in 2010 and will act as a “snapshot of the current and future-focused goals and objectives” for the city.
The plan was put together by Capital Park Consulting, who held workshops with councillors and met with members of the public and staff, as part of the process.
It outlines results-based actions to support the city’s five-pillared vision of being a “Healthy, Vibrant Community”, “Infrastructure”, “Economic Prosperity”, “Environmental Stewardship” and “Operational Excellence”.
Councillor Karen Sharpe says the new plan will touch on a lot of issues.
Councillor Terry Cassidy called it “the best strategic plan the city has ever had” and was especially pleased with the section on environmental stewardship
Now that it has been approved, senior staff will put together a report on next steps for council and CAO Charlie Murphy says 2020 will be a transition year in activating the new plan, since the operating budget is still to be approved and the capital budget already has.
Murphy is also commending councillors for their high level of engagement and participation in the process of putting the plan together.
