The Thousand Islands Bridge border crossing reopened after being shut down for a while yesterday afternoon (Monday) due to protests in solidarity with Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs.
The border point near Gananoque was shut down for roughly three hours, during which provincial police urged those planning to cross to the US to find other routes in order to avoid the group of ralliers carrying a sign that read, “Shut Down Canada”.
Another group of protesters shut down a border crossing between Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Niagara Falls, New York, on Sunday, but left of their own accord in the late afternoon.
Meanwhile, CN and Via train traffic remains stalled as the protest near the tracks in Tyendinaga continues.
