We have an update to a story we first brought you yesterday.
Northumberland OPP have charged a 29-year-old Trent Hills resident with attempted murder charges along with various other charges following a road rage incident in Warkworth.
On Tuesday evening shortly after 7 p.m., an incident took place between two drivers and one driver discharged a firearm.
Shortly after the incident, officers located and arrested one of the drivers involved in the altercation.
Mitchell Brenton is facing charges of attempt to commit murder using a firearm, assault with a weapon, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, discharge with intention, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of prohibited or restricted firearm, four counts of breach of firearms regulation and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Police say they have received information these two specific drivers interacted on several occasions and road rage incidents occurred on different roads in the Warkworth area.
Brenton is in custody and will appear in court on February 18.
Police are asking for the public’s help in this ongoing investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Northumberland OPP or Crime Stoppers.
