Laval– Joey Daccord stole the show Friday night in Laval as the Belleville Senators held on to win 4-3 against the Rocket.
It was the first half of a back-to-back with the rocket in the B-Sens return from the American Hockey League all-star break.
Jordan Murray scored the loan first period marker on the power-play from Alex Formenton and Morgan Klimchuk.
In the second frame, rookie sensation Josh Norris scored kicked things off under a minute in with his franchise record tying 23rd goal of the season, a mark he shares with Jack Rodewald who potted 23 last season. Formenton and Christian Jaros picked up the helpers.
Later on in the period, Jaros scored an unassisted goal to give Belleville a 3-0 lead.
The Rocket cut into that lead nearing the end of the period to make it 3-1 heading into the third.
In the final frame, Logan Brown scored on the man advantage from Norris and Erik Brannstrom.
Laval scored just minutes later to cut the lead in half.
A late Rocket flurry of shots and a late third period goal made things interesting, but Daccord was able to shut the door at 4-3 to secure the two points for Belleville.
Overall the Rocket fired 43 shots on Daccord who turned aside 40, compared to Belleville’s 17 shots the other way.
Sens head coach, Troy Mann says his goaltender stole the show.
The B-Sens special teams were also impressive in the win–killing seven of nine Rocket power-plays while capitalizing on two of five chances with the extra man.
With the two points, the Senators remain four points up on the Utica Comets in the North Division standings, albeit with two more games played.
The B-Sens are back in action Saturday night in Laval.
CJBQ is your home for that one with Jack Miller and the pre-game show beginning at 6:50 p.m. for Deer Haven Farm and Garden.
