Members of the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce got an overview of what’s to come in the city this year, from Mayor Jim Harrison, on Friday.
Harrison gave his annual State of the City address at the chamber’s monthly luncheon and outlined some of the major projects being worked on including the new sewage line across the Trent River, expansion of the waterfront trail, the OPP move-in to the new police station and more.
The mayor tells Quinte News that aside from those projects, the main thing city staff are doing is preparing to deal with more high water levels in Lake Ontario.
The mayor added that completing major infrastructure projects is also at the top of the to do list.
Harrison also heaped praise on local police, firefighters and other first responders, while also pointing out again how important the military members at 8 Wing are to the community.
The mayor presented certificates of recognition to Kerri Tadeu and members of the Hastings-Prince Edward Regiment for their work in cleaning up various off ramps and shoulder sections of the Highway of Heroes, and for their work in advocating for the mental health of veterans and soldiers.
