Belleville’s Economic and Destination Development Committee is still wrestling with developing a plan on how to carry out its work.
Earlier this week, city council sent the four-page strategic plan back to committee after member Councillor Bill Sandison questioned its goals.
At the committee meeting on Thursday, Councillor Pat Culhane suggested that the plan would possibly duplicate the work of other agencies.
Committee member Egerton Boyce noted the committee’s mandate was approved by city council nearly a year ago, in the spring of 2019.
Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jill Raycroft suggested the strategic plan be circulated to other partners to see “who’s doing what?”
The committee agreed to send the strategic plan to “external stakeholders.”
It will come back for approval in March.
Committee Chair Councillor Ryan Williams tells Quinte News the idea is that committee will have a budget to grow development for the city.
