Not only are they volunteer firefighters but they’ve also volunteered their time to help build something Prince Edward County really needs, a new hospital.
Tuesday the Picton Firefighters Association donated $3,000 to the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation for its Back the Build campaign whose goal is to raise over $16 million for equipment and furniture for a new hospital in Picton.
The firefighters raised the money at various community events throughout the past several months.
While approvals for the construction of a new hospital are still pending it’s hoped it could be ready for occupation sometime in 2025.
