Napanee’s Britt Benn and the Canadian women were runners-up at the HSBC New Zealand Rugby Sevens tournament in Hamilton New Zealand.
Canada fell to host New Zealand 24-7 in the final. Benn scored Canada’s lone try and was named to the tournament Dream Team.
Canada beat Ireland, Spain and France in group play before downing Australia 28-19 in the semi finals.
New Zealand leads the series standings midway through the eight-event season. Australia is in second place with Canada a close third.
Benn and the Canadians have already qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The next event in the series is this weekend in Sydney Australia.
