Belleville Police Service responded to 39 calls for service from January 26, 2020 at 5 a.m. to January 27, 2020 at 5 a.m.
Stolen vehicle recovered
On January 26, 2020 shortly after 9 a.m., Belleville Police attended Bell Blvd. in the area of Hanna Ct. in relation to a report of a vehicle that had driven into the ditch and struck a culvert. There was nobody present upon police arrival and, when queried, the vehicle involved was found to be a stolen Cadillac out of Prince Edward County. There was nothing at the scene to indicate that anyone involved in the accident had suffered any serious injury and OPP forensic services were called in to examine the vehicle.
Shoplifter
On January 26, 2020 at 1:45 p.m., Belleville Police were called to a north end retail store in relation to a male and a female who were inside and were suspected to be in the process of shoplifting. Investigation resulted in the arrest of 43-year-old Belleville resident Karen Holley. Holley was released at the scene with a court date of February 27 to answer to the charge of theft under $5000.
