Two men in their 30s have been charged with allegedly trying to use a drone to smuggle contraband into the Collins Bay Institution in Kingston.
Kingston Police and Correctional Service of Canada officers responded to a report of suspicious activity near the prison early Wednesday morning and found two men and the drone near the facility.
A package containing a variety of contraband, which wasn’t disclosed in a media release, was found inside the prison walls.
Thirty-five-year-old Justin Hurlbut and 33-year-old Michael Habib, both of Mississauga, are charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence and were held for Wednesday bail hearings.
The investigation is ongoing and the CSC says charges are also pending against an inmate in the medium security unit.
