Although they were playing their second game in as many nights the Trenton Golden Hawks didn’t miss a beat as they thoroughly outplayed the Wellington Dukes in the sixth edition of the Battle of Quinte last night (Friday).
Thursday night the G Hawks steamrolled the Cobourg Cougars 9 to 1 and last night in Welllington they just kept on rolling with a tidy 4 to 1 victory over the Dukes.
Trenton outshot Wellington by a wide margin, 53 to 28.
Scoring for the Golden Hawks were Sullivan Sparkes, Dalton Bancroft, Griffen Fox, and Wyatt George (empty net). Sparkes and Fox also had assists.
Frank Vitucci scored the Dukes only goal of the game in front of 906 fans. The win solidifies Trenton’s spot in first place in the East Division with 69 points. Wellington sits in second with 62 points.
As far as the Battle of Quinte goes this season, Trenton now has one win while Wellington has 4. The other game was a tie after double overtime.
