A 23-year-old Quinte West man is facing charges after an investigation into the theft and arson of three vehicles between December 2018 and March 2019.
On January 15 (Wednesday) officers from the Quinte West OPP crime unit arrested the man. He faces charges of public mischief, three counts of fraud over $5,000, two counts of arson and damage to property, mischief over $5,000 and two counts of motor vehicle theft.
The first motor vehicle was reported stolen from a business on Dundas Street West in the City of Belleville in December 2018. The vehicle was recovered a short time later, destroyed by fire, on Bryant Road in Prince Edward County.
The second vehicle was reported stolen from a residence on English Settlement Road in January 2019. The vehicle was recovered and destroyed by fire in a wooded area off Aikens Road in Quinte West.
The third was reported stolen from a residence on Johnstown Road in Quinte West in March 2019. The vehicle was recovered, heavily damaged, in Wooler.
