On January 15, 2020 at approximately 1 a.m., police received a call to a residence in the area of Bridge Street East and MacDonald Avenue. The resident reported that a male had opened a rear window from the outside and was startled by the homeowner and had fled the area. Police were on scene within minutes and began to search the area.
At approximately 1:20 a.m., police received a second call from a homeowner in the area of Montgomery Boulevard and Edward Street, not far from the first call. The homeowner at this location reported that a male had been ringing a rear doorbell. The home owner did not recognize the male and the male fled the area. Police found that a screen had been removed from a window on the house as well.
The area was searched by police and no suspect was located.
At approximately 3:34 a.m., police were called to the area of Hastings Drive and Dundas Street East as a homeowner had been awakened by a male inside her residence. The male fled on foot when confronted by the homeowner. Undisclosed items were stolen by the suspect. No injuries were sustained.
Belleville Police with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police K-9 Unit conducted a search of the area with negative results. Belleville Police Forensics officers gathered evidence at each of the three scenes and the investigation is continuing.
The suspected is described as;
-male white, 18-20 years old, between 5’10”- and 6’ tall with a thin build and was clean shaven
– the suspect was wearing a Beanie style toque, baggy orange or brown canvas jacket and grey pants
Police would like to hear from anyone in the area who may have video surveillance on their homes or businesses in the area where these incidents occurred.
