The Belleville Senators are sitting in first place in the American Hockey League’s North Division for the first time since coming to Belleville in 2017-2018.
The B-Sens are one point up on the Utica Comets and two points up on the Rochester Americans, who have two games in hand. Belleville has beat both of those rival clubs on their current eight game road swing that has seen the Sens go 3-0 thus far.
Sens forward Alex Formenton says there is extra confidence heading to the rink now.
Formenton’s teammate and fellow forward, Morgan Klimchuk says it’s nice to be at the top but acknowledges that it’s somewhere the team would like to stay.
Belleville is back in action Wednesday night for their second game in three nights against the Manitoba Moose in Winnipeg.
Head Coach Troy Mann says defender Andreas Englund has cleared waivers and been reassigned to Belleville from Ottawa. Mann adds that Englund will draw into the lineup tonight while a couple of regulars battle injury.
Filip Gustavsson will return to the net tonight after a stellar performance in Rochester on Friday night. Mann notes that Joey Daccord has played excellent in his back-to-back wins, but the plan was always to split the duo for the teams two games in Winnipeg.
You can catch tonight’s action on 800 AM CJBQ with Jack Miller beginning at 7:50 p.m. for Deer Haven Farm and Garden.
