One of the founders of the Quinte West Adopt A Child program was honoured by Quinte West council Monday night.
Lisa Triemstra, who started with CJTN radio in Trenton in 1990, received a plaque recognizing her almost 30 years spearheading Adopt A Child.
“Lisa is an inspiration to businesses, residents and the entire community for years of outstanding volunteerism,” said Mayor Jim Harrison.
Adopt A Child has helped thousands of families and many more children living with financial challenges keep warm with winter clothing every year.”
Triemstra said it was always a challenge and a lot of fun and stressed that there are always a lot of other people involved in the program and thanked the residents and businesses for their generous donations over the years.
Adopt A Child runs every year in the weeks before Christmas.
