On Sunday January 12, 2020, just before 4:00 p.m., officers from the Quinte West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into a shoplifting investigation that occurred at a large retail store in the west end of Trenton.
The two suspects had left the store and were located by police a short time later driving on Dundas Street West in the City of Quinte West. Police conducted a traffic stop and located the stolen property in the vehicle.
Police also found a quantity of cocaine in the vehicle. The two occupants in the vehicle were arrested.
Haily LaFrance, 23 years old, of Belleville and Benjamin Wilson, 31 years old, from Alberta have been charged with the following offences:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Theft Under $5000
- Possession of Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking
The accused persons were held for bail and are scheduled to appear in court today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
