The unemployment rates nationally and provincially both went lower last month from the month before.
However, the rate in this region went up a bit.
According to Statistics Canada the unemployment rate for the Kingston/Pembroke economic region which the Quinte area is a part of, was 5.7% which was up from 5.4% in November.
The Ontario unemployment rate was 5.3%, down from 5.6%. Ontario also led the way among provinces by adding over 25,000 new jobs.
Canada’s unemployment rate was 5.6%.
